The celebration of summer is at the “Hellenic Cosmos”!


The alternative summer camp of "Hellenic Cosmos" returns for yet another summer, offering creative activities, entertainment and lots and lots of fun.

This summer, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tholos, the virtual reality theatre of The "Hellenic Cosmos" Cultural Centre, and invite you to join us for unforgettable moments!

“Summer in the City” transforms into a great and unique celebration of imagination, knowledge and creativity. At this celebration, the guests are anything but ordinary: gods, heroes of Greek mythology, scientists and artists make their appearance. Myth and reality come together, creating an experience that fascinates!

What would you say to travelling from the Galápagos Islands to outer space and from the age of the dinosaurs to the “Golden Age” of Pericles? To meeting Olympian gods, beloved mythical heroes, great scientists and inspired artists? To having fun and creating together with them?

Because when Tholos of "Hellenic Cosmos" celebrates, the city fills with joy and smiles and summer becomes the most special “Summer in the City”!

The programme is intended for children 5-12 years old and has been designed by the experienced Museum Educators Department of FHW. It is implemented in the fully equipped facilities of The "Hellenic Cosmos" Cultural Centre and will creatively engage children who remain in Athens after the schools close. For five days, from early morning until the afternoon, children will have the opportunity to participate in educational activities and games that form a multidisciplinary educational programme: screenings at “Tholos”, crafts, movement games and many more activities, according to their age.


08:00 - 09:00: Arrival at "Hellenic Cosmos".
09:00 - 10:30: Organised group activities.
10:30 - 11:00: Morning snack.
11:00 - 13:30: Organised group activities.
13:30 - 14:00: Lunch break.
14:00 - 15:00: Organised group activities.
15:00 - 16:00: Children departure and optional supervision until 16:00.

How do we get to "Hellenic Cosmos"?
"Hellenic Cosmos" is located at 254 Pireos Street, in the Tavros area. More information can be found here.
Who is responsible for transporting the children to and from "Hellenic Cosmos"?
Children arrive at and depart from "Hellenic Cosmos" with their parents or accompanying adult, whose details have been provided to the Museum Educators Department.
In which areas are the educational programmes implemented?
In all areas of "Hellenic Cosmos". Each group has its own meeting point.
What age groups is the programme intended for?
For children from 5 to 12 years old.
Do all children participate in activities together?
No, they are divided into smaller groups according to their age.
I have two children of different ages. Can they be in the same group?
In order to ensure the best and most meaningful participation in the programme, it is important that children join the appropriate age group.
Are parents and guardians informed?
Before the beginning of each session, all necessary information regarding the implementation of the programme is sent electronically to each parent or guardian.
Do we need to complete an application form?
Yes, this is done either electronically or in person on the first day of each session. The application includes your details and the child’s details, as well as other important information such as allergies, health issues, etc.
Does the child need to bring anything with them?
It is advisable for each child to bring a small bag containing a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat and, for younger children, a change of clothes. All materials related to the programme are provided by "Hellenic Cosmos".
What should the children wear?
Light, comfortable clothes that can get dirty or worn out. Comfortable, closed shoes are also recommended.
What time are meals served?
Please choose foods that do not require refrigeration for lunch at 13:30 p.m., as only a morning snack at 10:30 a.m. is provided by the educational programme.
How long does the educational programme last?
From 09:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, with the possibility of morning arrival between 08:00-9:00. From 15:00 p.m - 16:00 p.m children departure and optional supervision until 16:00.
Where do the children stay before the programme starts?
During the period 8:00 a.m.- 9:00 a.m., and 15:00 p.m-16:00 p.m children remain in the reception area of Building 1, where board games, books, etc. are available.
What activities does the educational programme include?
During each session children participate in all activities of "Hellenic Cosmos" (Virtual Reality screenings, exhibitions, educational programmes) and many more, specially designed for each thematic unit (movement and board games, crafts, trust games, memory games, etc.)
How can I express my opinion about the programme?
Verbally to the museum educators responsible for designing and implementing the programme, to the management of "Hellenic Cosmos", as well as by completing the relevant evaluation form at the end of each session, a very important tool for the continuous improvement of the programme.
