The Foundation of the Hellenic World, as a pioneering organization in the utilization of new technologies in the field of culture, is participating in the internationally recognized Extended Reality exhibition, Augmented World Expo, which is taking place in the United States of America. This participation marks another significant step in the promotion and dissemination of the rich Greek cultural heritage to a global audience.
The Augmented World Expo has been established as the leading international conference and exhibition in the field of Extended Reality. AWE USA 2025 takes place June 10-12, 2025 in California and is one of the most important events in the field of new technologies, bringing together more than 5,000 XR professionals, 400+ speakers, and 250+ exhibitors presenting the future of augmented, virtual, and mixed reality.
Since the late 1990s, the FHW has been a pioneer in the application of Virtual Reality systems for the digital representation of our cultural heritage. At the «Hellenic Cosmos» Cultural Centre of the FHW operates the hemispherical Virtual Reality «Tholos», where the Foundation has developed a series of innovative interactive VR productions, while also implementing international XR research projects, such as Bridges, an interactive Extended Reality experience, and Smart Subs, an application that enables the display of subtitles using Augmented Reality glasses during live cultural events.
At AWE, the Foundation presents its work in an international environment where specialized professionals and leading XR companies from around the world gather, while paving the way for strategic collaborations and the exchange of know-how on a global level.
