A Memorandum of Cooperation aiming to promote Greek tradition, Greek culture and history, Greek language education, as well as the Greek creative sector, was signed on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by the Secretary General for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy, Maira Myrogianni, and the Executive Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation of the Hellenic World, Sofia Kounenaki Efraimoglou, in the presence of the Deputy Minister responsible for Greeks Abroad, Yiannis Loverdos.

As stated in the Memorandum of Cooperation, the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy and the Foundation of the Hellenic World intend to jointly undertake initiatives to strengthen the outreach of modern Greek cultural expression and implement actions for the cultivation and preservation of Greek identity elements among the younger generations of the Greek Diaspora. At the same time, support for cultural and educational initiatives is foreseen.

Ms. Sofia Kounenaki Efraimoglou pointed out that “the cooperation of the Foundation of the Hellenic World with the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs constitutes yet another important step in strengthening the ties with Greeks of the Diaspora. Through targeted actions and the use of cutting-edge technologies, the Foundation of the Hellenic World transcends Greek borders, remaining committed to creating a global network of culture, knowledge, and creative collaboration, with the aim of maintaining a living presence of Greek cultural heritage in the modern world.”
As Ms. Myrogianni stated: “Together with Deputy Minister Mr. Loverdos, we place particular emphasis on the dynamic nature of culture as a cohesive bond between Greece and Hellenism around the world. Our cooperation with the Foundation of the Hellenic World will contribute to the implementation of actions aimed at networking Greek expatriates with each other, preserving and promoting Greek culture, and spreading the universal values of Hellenism.”
On behalf of the Ministry, the Director General for Greeks Abroad, Ambassador Chrysoula Aleiferi, was also present.
