The theatrical gem of Giorgos Dialegmenos
is coming this summer to The «Hellenic Cosmos» Cultural Centre
The masterpiece of Giorgos Dialegmenos, "We Lost Aunt Stop", comes to life this summer at the Courtyard of the «Hellenic Cosmos» Cultural Centre, in a production by the theatrical production company Methexis and directed by Christos Tripodis. The grieving relatives (alphabetically): Jenny Diagoupi, Joyce Eveidi, Vivian Kontomari, Natassa Kotsovou, Giorgos Souxes, Orestis Tziovas, Haris Chiotis.
In the play "We Lost Aunt Stop", Thanasis and Ourania live in misery and nagging brought on by poverty, in Gazi during the 1950s. In the next room lies their bedridden and dying aunt, whose inheritance they rely on to fulfill their dreams of a better life. An argument, a wrong move, brings her death a little earlier than expected. A death that does not bring the much-desired solution, but is the spark for a big "explosion".
Theatre critic, Kostas Georgousopoulos, has said about Giorgos Dialegmenos
"Giorgos Dialegmenos fell like a meteor into our theatrical market. And he turned out to be a luminous galaxy that simply pretended to be a comet to mislead us. I believe this metaphor almost revealingly interprets the way this folk ironist operates in the field of our theatrical transactions… Dialegmenos wrote only masterpieces. There is no indifferent, mediocre, or controversial work of his. A rare phenomenon in world theatre."
