The popular masterpiece of Victor Hugo «LES MISÉRABLES» comes to life in the «THEATRON» in a show for both children and adults.


The Foundation of the Hellenic World which traditionally stages the largest and most spectacular productions for both children and adults, will present this year the iconic work of Victor Hugo «LES MISÉRABLES». After the huge success of Charles Dickens' «OLIVER TWIST», the direction and theatrical adaptation of the popular 19th-century masterpiece is signed by Konstantina Nikolaidi, along with a cast of 22 acclaimed and talented actors.




There are works of world literature that time cannot wear out, nor can it alter their value, and which serve as a model of life for humans. One such work is «LES MISÉRABLES». Through the lives of the characters in the work and the life of the central character Jean Valjean, Victor Hugo uniquely reveals the agonizing journey of man from darkness to light. As he writes in his pages «To love. It's enough. Do not seek anything else. There is no other pearl to be found in the depths of life». The book is available from many publishers in adaptations specially edited for children and teenagers. The work has been translated into almost all languages, has been adapted many times for cinema, and has graced theater stages around the world, culminating in the London production which has been presented for the past forty years.



A Few Words About the Author of the Work

Victor Hugo was born in 1802 in Besançon, France. By the age of thirteen, he had already realized his literary inclination and success and fame soon followed. Victor Hugo was the greatest French author and one of the greatest representatives of French romanticism. He was involved in poetry, literature, dramaturgy, visual arts, and politics while also being one of the boldest activists of his time for human rights. The author completed the novel «Les Misérables» in 1862 after seventeen whole years.
