3D Prints at the Hellenic Cosmos Gift Shop

When technology meets cultural heritage

At the Gift Shop of the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Centre, visitors have the opportunity to discover a unique collection of three-dimensional (3D) printed objects, designed and produced by the Foundation of the Hellenic World. These creations combine modern technology with history, archaeology, mathematics, and Greek cultural heritage, offering unique souvenirs and original gifts for all ages.

Each object is produced using the Foundation’s 3D printers and is the result of research, creativity, and the application of technology for educational and cultural purposes. Many of the designs are based on digital reconstructions, virtual reality productions, and exhibitions of the “Hellenic Cosmos,” allowing visitors to take home a small “piece” of the experience they have lived.

The collection includes faithful replicas of important ancient monuments and works. First among them stands the Treasure of Syracuse at Ancient Olympia, a precise 3D reconstruction of the monument at a scale of 1:114. Next we find the Monopteros Temple at the Delphinion of ancient Miletus, Doric temples, Doric and Ionic columns, as well as replicas of famous sculptures such as the Winged Victory of Samothrace and the Venus de Milo. You will also find replicas of Cycladic and Mycenaean figurines, Minoan pithoi, and other objects inspired by important finds of Greek civilization.

Special attention is also given to board games produced through 3D printing, such as “Memniso,” a memory game, classic tic-tac-toe, and the famous Archimedes’ Ostomachion, one of the oldest known puzzle games. Through these, knowledge and entertainment are combined in a way that makes history accessible and enjoyable for all ages.

The collection is complemented by functional and decorative objects such as pencil holders, bookends, frames, phone stands, keychains, decorative items featuring the Foundation’s logo, as well as special vases designed using mathematical equations. The latter are a characteristic example of the creative meeting point between science, mathematics, and modern design, demonstrating that technology can become a means of artistic expression.

For younger visitors, there are also spinning tops, whistles, and other toys inspired by antiquity, produced with modern manufacturing methods, bringing traditional forms of play into the present.

The innovation of 3D printing is yet another expression of the Foundation of the Hellenic World’s ongoing effort to use new technologies for the promotion, study, and dissemination of cultural heritage. Through these creations, history takes on a new form and becomes more accessible, experiential, and interactive.

You can visit the Gift Shop of the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Centre and discover a wide variety of 3D-printed objects: a special gift, an educational toy, or a unique souvenir from your visit! You will find creations that combine innovation with Greek history and culture, turning each object into a small story you can take with you.
