Experience a unique VR experience at the
“Interactive tour of the Ancient Agora of Athens”
The "Hellenic Cosmos" Cultural Centre celebrates, on Sunday, May 17 at 15:00, International Museum Day, offering a unique Virtual Reality experience in the “Interactive tour of the Ancient Agora of Athens”. The reconstruction of the Ancient Agora of Athens at three different moments in history allows the visitor to choose which route they wish to follow and to understand its evolution over time, as well as the transformation of the space’s functions from one era to another, as reflected in its architectural and urban planning differences. In the Classical Agora (around 400 BC), emphasis is placed on the importance of public administrative buildings and the presence of a large open space for gatherings and athletic activities. During the Hellenistic period (around 150 BC), large commercial buildings (stoas) dominate, highlighting the benefactions of Hellenistic rulers. Finally, the Roman image of the Agora (around 150 AD) reflects its gradual decline as an administrative and commercial center, allowing for the development of its religious and cultural character, with the construction of new temples, an odeon, a library, and a nymphaeum.
International Museum Day 2026, with the theme “Museums unite the world”, aims to highlight the role of museums as spaces that do not eliminate differences but create the conditions for them to be understood and approached with respect. Museums strengthen connections between generations, communities, and countries, promoting diversity, sustainability, and mutual trust.
